It had not gone well for the two Furies.

Flashina struggled against the gravity well projector. She was trapped, her limbs like lead trapped in molasses. A few feet away, Super-Stompa lay on hands and knees before Lex Luthor, wrapped in chains studded with kryptonite and groaning in pain. Luthor chuckled triumphantly, holding the Gothambox.

"I'm almost disappointed that you were defeated this easily," Luthor scoffed. "It's not often that I get assaulted by a speedster and a Kryptonian. I have to thank you for testing my security system. But what is this little toy you brought with you? A bomb, perhaps? No... too sophisticated." He began to examine it, tapping the controls.

"Fairly basic interface, yet startlingly complex," Luthor mused. The box chimed and pinged. "Ah, perhaps it operates on musical tones."

"You dunno what you're doin', Lex," Super-Stompa gasped.

"Quiet," Luthor dismissed. He caught a glimpse of his reflection in the window. A glorious mane of red hair framed his face. "My god," he grinned. "It's some sort of localized reality distortion device! How interesting."

Lex could almost feel the shifts in space-time swirling around him. A double-image of memories seemed to fill his mind, stretching all the way back to childhood. Super-Stompa, caught in the waves of change, could see Lex's silhouette wavering, shifting... She heard Lex speaking, but it seemed to be a duet, mixed with a familiar voice. "With this, I can rewrite history! Become a god! You--"

"There," Diana Desaad stood up. She'd connected the Gothambox into the Watchtower's computer core in an inconspicuous spot. The device simply appeared to be another processing unit, but it would be able to tap into every system on the satellite from here. Emerald Bernadeth and Mad Canary stood guard at the door and smiled at their team leader. "Now we begin phase two. We will start by--"

"Diana? Are you in there?" The three froze as they heard a voice from outside. The door slid open and Green Arrow stepped inside. "How did the mission to Apokolips goWHOA!" He whipped out his bow as he saw Diana Desaad, her face twisted in angry surprise at the intrusion. He didn't have time to nock an arrow before he was snared into the clutches of Emerald Bernadeth and Mad Canary.

"Step away, witch," Emerald Bernadeth rasped from behid the bowman, her sword at his neck. "I've long desired to have my rival at my mercy." The residual feelings of Green Lantern seemed to well up in her, recalling the philosophical differences they'd had with one another.

"Hee-hee-hee-he's MY lover!" Mad Canary shrilled, gripping Oliver's wrists with one claw... and running the other down to his crotch. "Get your own!"

Ollie glanced at Canary in horror. He could see a resemblance to Dinah in that mad, jaundiced face, but her leering grin curdled his blood.

"Enough of this, both of you," Diana Desaad ordered.

"--shouldn't just show up unannounced like that." Lexana warned. She looked at the two Furies as she leaned on her desk, the Gothambox beside her. She tapped her intercom. "Stand down, security. It was only a drill."

The field holding Flashina dissipated, and the chains unlocked from Super-Stompa and retracted into the floor. The two Furies stood up and got a better look at Lexana. She was as tall as Lex Luthor, but had the feminine features of Lana Lang, and was wearing a flattering, exquisitely tailored pants suit. She picked up her cigar from the ashtray and took a drag, letting the smoke curl casually from her nostrils.

"What's this about, Clara? You know I don't like being disturbed at work."

Super-Stompa blinked. She remembered Lexana from their hometown of Smallville. Yes, the two of them had been friends. The slow-witted but strong Clara Kent and the ambitious genius Lexana Lanthor. They had even shared a tumble or two in a hayloft... both recalling Lexana's butterfly kisses and Clara's eager, insistent tongue. But Lexana had bigger plans, and moved on to make a billion-dollar fortune before the age of twenty. She was a ruthless businesswoman with a mind like a cold machine, and she was one of the few who knew Super-Stompa's secret.

"We were delivering that," Flashina nodded at the Gothambox. Super-Stompa nodded.

"I'll take a look at it later," Lexana said dismissively. She sat down at her desk as the two Furies made to leave. Super-Stompa paused.

"Uh, Lexie... Why the kryptonite?" she asked.

"You know I have many enemies, Clara darling," Lexana smiled wolfishly. "I would hate to count you among them. Now if you please, I have business to take care of."
