Buffy had sprinted as fast as she could to the street where Xander said he and Willow had been attacked.  She was incredibly anxious for what she was about to find, but had come loaded for bear.  What she did see in the distance as she swiftly approached the still-parked car caused both her frustration and anxiety levels to rise all the more, though.  Parked just behind 'The Xandermobile' was a police car with its blue and red lights flashing.

"Great," Buffy muttered to herself, "Just what I need in a situation like this.  Police interference."

The Slayer slowed her run down to a walk and made sure to tuck away any weapons she had on her as to not raise suspicion.  If she was questioned she would just say that she was out for a walk at night, and there was no law against that.  Buffy stopped in her tracks, though, when she saw the full damage that this creature Xander described had caused.  The passenger-side door was indeed broken off, lying next to the car on the street and the tires on the driver side had been slashed down to the hubcaps.

"Excuse me, Miss," the officer called out, shining his flashlight in her direction, "I see that you're out for a walk and there is no law against that."

Buffy paused for a moment and her face formed a confused pout.

"But I'm going to have to ask you not to loiter here," the officer continued, gesturing to the car, "This is official police business."

Buffy said nothing but raised her eyebrows at the car, trying her best to act like a normal, everyday civilian, while also taking in any and all detail she could see of the car in the moonlight.  She was also on edge and ready at a moment's notice for the thing that had attacked Xander and Willow to return to the scene of its crime.  In fact, she wished that would happen so she could get a lead on where it had taken Willow.

The police officer looked from Buffy, to the damaged car and back to Buffy.  Looking down for a moment, as if trying to think of something to say, he blurted out with a shrug, "The people driving.  Well...they hit an animal.  The passengers inside are all fine.  Don't you worry about that.  They're being attended to at Sunnydale Memorial as we speak.  You know, just to be on the safe side.  A tow truck is on its way for the car."

"That must have been some animal," Buffy said flatly, pointing to the door.

The officer sucked in his lips for a moment and a look of pure frustration crossed his face.  It was clear he was trying to think of just what to say, and finally he exhaled loudly.  He looked like he was just about to respond to the blonde girl before him, when another voice was heard, unexpectedly, from his radio.  Buffy, meanwhile, wanted to roll her eyes at the man's flimsy lie.  Had this been the garbage the police had been making up in this town throughout the years as its citizens went missing, never to be heard from again?  At this very thought, a sharp, nagging sensation had formed quickly in the pit of Buffy's stomach when it occurred to her that it was Willow that had gone missing this time and that until she was found, there was a real chance of her never being found.  Buffy just couldn't allow that to happen.

Another thought crossed her mind.  It was that of her dream, and of deathly pale skin, golden eyes, red hair and Willow's dark smile with her puffy, crimson lips and long, viperish fangs.  Buffy pushed the thought out of her mind, since it was too horrible to even fathom at this stage.

"...I repeat, all units report to the Bronze!  There is...a disturbance at the Bronze!" the voice over the radio broke Buffy out of her quagmire of disturbing thoughts.  It was an utterly panicked voice, and the sound of a gunshot ringing out over the crackling radio shook Buffy to her core.  The voice returned, and with it, the sounds of animalistic snarling, grunting and inhuman shrieks.  The voice added shakily, "Come quick!"

The police officer gave Buffy a long, worried look before he told his fellow officer that he was on his way to whatever was happening at The Bronze.  The man got into his cruiser and immediately zoomed away.  Buffy could tell that he and the other police would be no match for whatever supernatural entity was attacking the popular Sunnydale nightspot.  Making sure that the police car was far enough away that he wouldn't see her, The Slayer turned away from Xander's car and sprinted as fast as she could toward the Bronze.  She had to abandon the search for Willow for the moment, and that hurt her more than any monster at the Bronze ever could.  But she was The Slayer, and it was her duty to dispatch of the evil things that went bump in the night.  Just the thought of Willow out there, alone, though.  With no one to help her.

It broke Buffy's heart, and she half-pitied whatever it was inside the Bronze that was distracting her from looking for her missing friend.  She was going to take all of her frustrations and anxiety out on the creature and it wouldn't know what hit it.
