The sound from the punch bag being viciously punched echoed thru the empty gym. The petit and frail figure was trying to discharge all her frustration over the punch bag. The frustration related to impossibility to go to the battlefront at Europe to fight against the unstoppable Hydra Army from the League of Assassins, nor go to Asia combat the raising threat from Mandarin's robotic army powered by Will Magnus stolen techs which are conquering the Asian continent.
Kate kept punching the bag to exorcise the ghosts at her mind. "Too frail for battlefront" was the most frequent but it was followed "no proper soldier would follow a woman to the death" and finally "lesbians don't have any good morale standards nor discipline for the war"
"Lieutenant Kane" said a potent female voice from the gym's entrance. Kate listened the voice and opted to ignore it. She was too busy punching the bag."LIEUTENANT KATHERINE KANE" said the voice approaching to Kate which just now had noticed the tall female figure wearing a dark jumpsuit holding the Taskforce X badge. "I am Maria Hill from Taskforce X. And I have an assignment for you"
"Not interested" Kate said still punching the bag "I am not a desk jockey or tech oriented. And I am about to resign and go back to the civilan life"
"It is a shame, because you was chosen for a major project" Maria said "and if everything is sucessful you will see the battlefront everyday"Kate stopped at that instant "How? The high command said I was too frail and unfit for combat" said the red haired frail and short woman
"I can't share any further details here. But if you sign this papers" said Maria drawing an envelope
Kate promptly signed the papers and from that moment for several months long she lived at Taskforce X special base trainning under the best trainers and strategists. She and all girls from her unity were called the suicide squadron because all of them would pass by a special treatment to improve themselves, like the mutant amazons from Utopia island. Kate and the others had the privilege to get the battlefield mental prepare from Doctors Karla Suffen and Harley Quinzell, the most awarded behavior psychologists over the Earth. Their combat coach was the shell shocked weapons specialist Frank Castle, from Peacemaker project and they got science classes from Doctor Hank Pym and Doctor Ryan Choi.
"Girls, please, could you gather around me?" said Doctor Quinzell. "What I am going to tell to you is serious. I know you are one of the many experiments which the allied nations are doing to take over the Hydra Army and the Unholy Axis. Well there are a small chance to you survive the process, but if one of you survive we have a super weapon capable to destroy an Hydra battalion by herself. But, before you go I will ask you to pick someone to be your partner. A person to aid you to hold your humanity."
Kate was intrigued
"Why do we need the partner?" asked Carol Ferris
"Because we are going to mess with your basic structure. Like your libido and your inner drives. Starting at this moment you will become different projects.
