Meanwhile...
Airachnid reveled in being free of her hunger, in once again feeling warmth in her spark-chamber, and in a new sensation she'd never before experienced, but recognized as gratitude. She turned towards Santa.
"How can I ever repay you?" she said, for once in her life sincere.
Santa chuckled. "As I said before, it's not me who you'll be repaying, it's Jack Darby."
Airachnid frowned. "You were serious about the procreating? That's ridiculous!
"One, I haven't the parts for such a thing, secondly why would I want to do that, and third, why would I do it with Jack..."
She trailed off, as she recalled the human boy's courage, tenacity, and cleverness. And it occurred to her that, as humans went, he was fairly well made...
"Never mind, the third point," she said, completely oblivious to the fact that the thoughts of Jack that now filled her head were put there by Santa. "But the the other two...ohhh!"
